Dark Day

Today I tried ever so hard to make it on time for the Dark Vicotria day events, but was terribly late for the fashion show. I arrived and Mr Avalanche helped me find the event location via his beautiful hot air balloon.

I arrived to find I had missed the fashion show entirely!

I was very disappointed, but decided to stay at the event location for the photo session. We had but only a few minutes to go before the photo session was to begin when, suddenly people started screaming around me. I saw the werebeast run past me and disappear before my eyes! It was the first and only time I ever saw it.

Next I knew, we were all looking in on poor Miss Artesia Paine lying on the ground bleeding, and without a doctor nearby and no souls with enough knowledge to help her. She did not live more than 5 minutes after the attack and we were all affected. It was the worst thing I had witnessed in Caledon and I cried uncontrollably.

Many of us met to discuss what should be done next since the werebeast had now taken a life.

During our discussions, I was lucky enough to see my first mermaid. Her name was Miss Lavender Lamington and she was the prettiest thing I had ever seen floating there in the dark waters.

Well, it turns out she has the ability to sometimes walk on land, so she gained her footing and joined us for the dance that was fast approaching. She ballooned to the event location with me and several other fair Calidonian ladies. Mr. Avalanche was the luckiest man to be surrounded by so many lovely ladies.

The equipment for the dance was set up and we tried to be as happy as we could considering the start to our afternooon. But we danced ... and Colonel O'Toole even lost his head!

Several hours into the dance, several Caledonians were receiving messages that the werebeast was approaching again and many of us held our breath.

Word followed that the werebeast had been slain once the messages had disappeared. We continued to dance, some Caledonians celebrating the death of the beast.

We danced long past the end of the event, so long as Sir Edward Pearse played.

I went home and just sat for a while. A lot happened during the day and I had a lot to think about and feel - things I hadn't had time to concern myself with earlier. I don't know what to think of the werebeast. Was his life worth taking for Miss Paine's? Would he have done it again?

And on the flip side, how sorry I am to have not had the pleasure of Dante's company at this dance tonight. This is the last organized dance in Caledon before he leaves for his exploration trip and I had really hoped to have his company tonight. I know he has so much to do before he goes... but I... oh well.

Friday with Hu

Kira isn't around this weekend, so Hu and I spent Friday night together. We danced and talked and danced some more. My friend Cory TP'd me to a club and I TP'd Hu with me and the 3 of us danced all night.

On the web

I found myself on the web today! I went to a podshow with Dante in June and someone photographed me there: http://snapshots.slbuzz.com/marlo-kline/2007/06/10/8615

I went shopping for something to wear to the Dark Victoria fashion show and dance that is happening in Caledon on Saturday:

Event: Dark Victoria Dance
Description: Let out your inner Goth and dance
Date: July 7th
Location: Tanglewood
Hosted by: Miss Violet Schnabel

Group Notice from Violet Schnabel:

Just wanted to remind everyone about the very spooky Dark Victoria event taking place this Saturday, July 7th. We will start off with a fashion show taking place at 2:00 pm SLT.

This will be followed by an opportunity to have your photo taken with Mr. Garrigus, a gentleman Vampire about Caledon, with all proceeds going to SLRFL.

We will end with a Dark Victoria dance from 6-9pm SLT. Our DJ will be Sir Edward Pearse.

I found a gorgeous dress and I just hope that no one else shows up in the same dress (every woman's nightmare!). I would have made a dress for myself but I just don't have enough time. So when I was done shopping, I went to visit Hu and Kira to show off my new ensemble. They both loved it too.

Hu is working on making a model scale version of the Forbidden City in Bejing. I got a chance to see his work in progress and I was impressed. The model people are so tiny on the 3-D map. He says that the model people should actually be smaller, but he can't get them any smaller than they are. I can't wait to see the finished product!

Happy Birthday USA

Today I attended the Amrican music party in Caledon. I met Mr Boyle who is new to Caledon and danced with him for 2. He had to rush off however and I spent the rest of my time dancing on the sidelines. Duchess Riel played wonderful music and I had a very lovely time at the party. I even got to wear my red and blue dress that I made. I didn't make the dress for the occassion, but it worked out well.

I worked on my dress for a while while Dante teased me that he was working on something secret. Usually we build together, so I was very curious! Eventually he invited me to his place to see the almost finished item. Turns out he was making me a present. The secret item turned out to be a cage for my new pet rats! I had told him a while ago that I would need to make a cage for the rats to live in, and I never dreamed he would make it for me. He really outdid himself this time! The wheel rotates and makes sounds and the waterbottle gurgles and the little rat photo inside squeaks. He had to go to a BBQ right after surprising me, and I was sorry to see him leave when I was so excited over his creation. He is such a dear friend - it was very very sweet of him to make me such a thoughtful present. I owe him big time.

I went back to the house and worked some more on the skirt for the dress. A little later, Viola came online and stopped by for a while. She was planning to help me make the store, so I told her I needed her help now since I am so close to getting it open so she is going to work on that. It was good to see her today. I wish she would come around more often. I miss her.

I worked on my dress for a long time after she left and got the prim skirt aligned, textured, linked and taken into my inventory as an object. I put it on, and it was a wreck (after being perfect before). I was so disheartened. Just about this time, Dante came back from the BBQ and I told him how awful the skirt looked. So he invited me over to his place so I could show it to him. He agreed it was messed up and while he continued to tweak the cage present for me, I worked on the skirt some more.

It turned out that it was the transparancies causing the textures to look like they were popping behind one another at random, regardless of actual prim depth. Well, now that I know how to fix it, it will require reworking of the entire skirt. I didn't have the heart or energy to put into it, so Dante suggested we go to the evening dance in Caledon being DJ'd by Sir Edward Pearse. We danced for a short time until Dante had to go before the dance was over.

I stayed for the duration of the dance until there were only 5-6 of us left. After the dance, I went home and paid the rent, then set up the rat cage in the house. I thought I would surprise Dante with it tomorrow, all set up with the rats inside. Setting up the rats took a lot longer than expected, but eventually I got them in the cage and running around. I can't wait to show it to Dante!

So overall, it was a productive day, despite the dress issues. At least I learned from it.

Getting there

Tonight I worked extensively on the prim skirt for the dress. I am finally getting somewhere. However, I think if I keep going tonight, I will make things worse, so better stop while ahead.

I went downstairs to play with the scripts on the front doors of the house. I ended up getting entirely too frustrated with it, when Dante happened to come online and offered to help me. Once we got it fixed, I showed him the dress I am working on. Since there was an impromtu dance, we decided we would take a spin around the dance floor there. We danced the night away, talking and laughing. It was the best ngiht I have had in a long time. I really do enjoy Dante's company.

Only slightly productive

Tonight I went shopping with Hu and Kira and Kira's friend Tink. Tink was a very nice person and she is very creative - she is making herself some very nice armor that she showed us all. I got a new purple dress while we were out.

Then I went back to the house and worked on my next dress a bit. I am still messing with textures, but I think it is coming along. I think I am going to redo the texture on the skirt prims... hmmm..... not sure yet. But I know I will work it out.

Once the dress is done, I am going to work on the store and getting it open. Of course, I don't know how that will work. I may need to enlist Kira's help since I have no idea how vendor scripts work.

Canada Day

Today started off quiet. I sat in the yard with Maxwell for a while. That was peaceful until he started throwing acorns at me from behind. That little guy's got some nerve...

After my encounter with Maxwell, I worked on my next dress design for a while. I think it is coming along. This next one is a little complex, but I think with some patience, I can get it. It is going to be a ball gown.

Tonight was the Canada Day Party at Mr Writer's place in Caledon SteamSkyCity. Duchess Riel played some great dance tracks and we danced the night away.

By the end of the party, most of us were stripped down to our skivvies and having the grandest time! Yeah, Victorians know how to party too! Naughty Victorians dance!

After the party in Caledon, I went to the Dogglounge for a bit and happened to meet my friend Rommel there who had just arrived as well. We danced and talked a bit while everyone around us waved their Canadian flags.
